Green tea is a wonderfully uplifting and powerful drink with an array of powerful health benefits. Green tea can be enjoyed both hot or iced. Green tea leaves are hand picked and gently steamed to retain their delicate flavor, aroma and color and mostly served by loose tea or by tea bags. Green tea does have caffeine, however, about a 1/3 of the content that a cup of coffee brings you.
Green tea contains many positive health benefits including, polyphenols, carotenoids, tocopherols, vitamin c, chromium, manganese, selenium, zinc and powerful phytochemical compounds. Green tea delivers very potent and protective antioxidants making it an amzingly healthy beverage. Research suggests that the antioxidants found in green tea contribute to good health by neutralizing ‘free radicals’ in the body protecting healthy cells from damage. Be sure to get your green tea in each day and drink up to a healthier you.
My favorite tea and best found value for buying green tea:
**My favorite green tea is the Organic Whole Foods 365 Brand which is an incredible value. I get 80 tea bags in the box for $3 (or 3 cents per tea bag). The tea bags contain only organic green tea and have approximately 30 mgs of caffeine per 8 ounce brewed serving. I make this both as a hot tea and also as an iced tea.**
For a delicious cup of hot tea simply pour 8 oz of purified water just off the boil over a tea bag and let steep between 2-5 minutes stirring occasionally before removing bag. You can sweeten the tea with agave and or add non dairy or milk to the tea if desired.
Brewing the perfect Iced Tea:
Take four cups of purified water just off the boil over 3-5 tea bags and brew for 4-8 minutes. Sweeten to taste with agave if desired, and chill or pour over ice.
