What you need:
For each cup of cracked wheat you are cooking, you will need two cups of water. In sauce pan boil water. When water reaches rolling boil, add the cracked wheat. After adding the wheat, lower temperature to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes. When wheat is soft enough to eat, turn the stove off and let stand for 10 minutes to cool before serving.
Cracked wheat is also referred to as Bulgar wheat.
Tabouleh salad, as a side grain, or to add to chicken or burger meat to extend further using less meat making it more affordable. Goes great sprinkled in all kinds of salads, soups, chili and more to add protein without the bulk of rice and other larger grains.
