Whole Wheat Carob Agave Pecan Brownie Pie

Whole Wheat Carob Agave Pecan Brownies

Time: 40 Minutes
Yield: 10-16 Depending on how big you cut the pieces
(9 Item Recipe)
Naturally Vegan & Vegetarian

2 cups Organic Whole Wheat Flour (I prefer Bob’s Red Mill)
2 cups Organic Agave Nectar
3/4 cup Organic Carob Powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 Cup Purified Water
1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 cup Applesauce
1 Medium Organic Avocado, mashed
1 tsp Organic Vanilla
1/2 Cup Raw Organic Pecans, chopped or broken in half
Preheat the oven to 350.  In a large bowl, stir together the flour, carob powder, and baking powder. Next pour in agave nectar, water, olive oil, applesauce, vanilla, and mashed avocado mixing until well blended.  Measure out the pecans and break them in halves.  If you prefer you can chop them if you like them in smaller pieces.
Now that your pecans are halved or chopped fold them into your mixture. Mix until well distributed throughout mixture.  Next Spread evenly in a 9×13 inch baking pan. If you are going to do the optional carob drizzle you will finish with the drizzle now before it goes into the oven.
I didn’t have a square pan so i used a circular pan and made a brownie pie out of it, which also works just fine. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is no longer shiny. Let cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting and serving.
Carob Agave Drizzle (Optional)
For the carob drizzle we took a teaspoon of carob and agave to sweeten it and made a paste.  To this we then add just a little bit of olive oil to thin out the paste to make a carob drizzle.  When you reach a pourable consistency drizzle over top.  This step is optional but looks pretty if you are serving this dessert or taking it to a get together.
This sweet treat dessert is not only low fat but also vegan and vegetarian.  If you do not want the lowest fat version you can omit the apple sauce and add in additional olive oil, or make omit both apple sauce and olive oil and use 3 mashed avocados.  All the ways taste delicious and are equally wonderful just depends on your diet, desires, and ingredients on hand.
