So many great things to say about wonderful flaxseed. The best most potent form of flax seed is when it is in its ground state, as it unlocks its healing properties. Everything from digestive comfort, vascular health aid, to potential cancer deterrent. As flaxseed is high in natural fiber it is a great laxative aid to constipation and IBS. The fiber is also a great benefactor in reducing cholesterol levels. Many recent studies are revealing the potential ability for flaxseed to help combat cancers including breast and prostate. Both the seed and oil contain alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid similar to those in fish oil that can reduce risk of heart disease and stroke. Ground flax seed meal is a great multi-purpose means to use the flaxseed in many recipes. We love it in smoothies, green drinks, soups, stews, dressings, salads, veggies, breads and more. We put it in our breads and sweets we make including pancakes, waffles and other dishes.
